When She Decided to See

Once again, within the Deca-Light Reflection Barrier, she watched as destiny intertwined like a shimmering web of pearls, reflecting and overlapping, with endless cause and effect. "What do you see?" Her master once asked her. Some diviners saw their own insignificance, and no longer believed that human effort could change destiny. Others saw the great tides of the future, following the flow to find optimal solutions. At that moment, the young girl gazed into the barrier, and saw boundless darkness. That is a future long predetermined. She also saw "starlight," the faint possibilities not yet devoured by the gods' gaze. That gleam of starlight once slipped through her fingers, leaving the Fanghu in eternal night. Yet she had also seized fleeting variables, flipping the Weal and Woe of the Yuque. "A dead end is called such only because none dare defy fate." She wanted to find her own answer, even if it meant stepping into destined peril. "What I see matters not. What matters is what I can do."
