Although the 4-piece Instructor is Thoma's theoretical best set in Hu Tao or Yoimiya teams, it comes with the caveat of being a 4-star maximum rarity artifact set. This means lower scalings on mainstats and substats and with that, a slimmer shield and harder to achieve Energy Recharge requirements.

• Notes:
The best role for a DPS Thoma. Due to Burgeon being a Transformative Reaction, EM and character level are the only things that affect damage. ATK and Talent Levels do not factor into Burgeon reactions and they cannot crit. Leveling your Thoma to 90 is extremely important; it's about a 30% damage difference from a level 80 Thoma. It is also possible to run Hybrid Thoma for a stronger shield to combat Burgeon self-DMG and enemy attacks while still dealing a good amount of damage.

When pairing Thoma with Hu Tao, be wary that you're bringing an additional source of Pyro to your team. As a way to prevent Thoma from interrupting Hu Tao’s Vaporizes, it is recommended to opt for N1C(one Normal Attack followed by a Charged Attack) combos. Xingqiu's C6, Yelan's C2 and/or a Hydro absorbed Elemental Burst from Sucrose or Kazuha can help alleviate this issue.
Yoimiya appreciates ATK% buffs so consider bringing Heizou or Sucrose equipped with Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers over Kazuha.

Thoma's official title in the Kamisato Clan is that of a "housekeeper," and as such, he is responsible for matters such as cleaning and cooking. Whenever he appears at the Yashiro Commission, Thoma is almost always busy with such work. He is able to get everything done well, and even Furuta, the butler of the Kamisato Clan, is full of praise for his housekeeping skills. However, most of the time, Thoma does not stay in the Yashiro Commission, but goes elsewhere to deal with some special matters discreetly. For example: solving the problems encountered by the Yashiro Commission, asking for information for the head of the Kamisato Clan, fulfilling Ayaka's wishes, etc. In those unknown corners, Thoma has always used his own way to develop the influence of the Yashiro Commission.
